Notes:Jul 26, 08 - SEPTIMIUS SEVERUS - He disbanded the Imperial guard and replaced it with 50,000 troops from his legions. He defeated his rivals and forced the Senate to accept His rule. He improved the lot of the army by raising their pay for the first time in 100 years and by allowing them to marry. Severus spent the last years of his life fighting in Parthia and Britain. He died leaving the Empire greatly strengthened in prestige and security.
